Château Dubuc
In 1657, Pierre Dubuc, originally from Dieppe in Normandy, arrived in Martinique to escape the musketeers of the King of France, following a duel.
As a reward for his victories against the Indians, he took possession of Trinidad and Tartane from 1671 and began growing sugar cane, coffee and tobacco.
A place full of mystery and secrets:
The location, importance and activities of Château Dubuc make it a residence with a dark past… Beneath its appearance as a large 18th century sugar house, certain smuggling activities and trafficking in goods and slaves are suspected.
Certain clues make evident the clandestine practices that took place there: warehouses oversized compared to the sugar factory, chests, slave dungeons, etc.
